The overall objective of these investigations is, of course, to provide sufficient information to allow the design of better (less annoying) floor systems and to allow the elimination of annoying vibrations in present floor systems. This objective has been realized to a great extent by the application of the experimental and analytical developments by Mr. Ron Gibson to both the calculation of the characteristics of the common floor systems which might be constructed with presently available joists and to the data already gathered on field installations by Mr. Joseph E. Keller. A wealth of information has been compiled in tabular and figure form which should prove very useful in the setting of future specifications for the construction of floor systems, and also in better understanding the problems evident in floors for which complaints have been made.en_US
