dc.description.abstract | First Caption:
(Translation: When the first direct train between Berlin and Constantinople started operation, the Turks waited: “Now here a train is going to come and we’ll sate our bellies and have shoes to wear....” Alas, the train arrived empty. “Well what did it come for?” “Well, to transport Turkish reserve goods to Berlin...”).
(Translation: And the train went back...). Third Caption:
(Translation: With great hope and trembling the Germans waited for the first train from Constantinople.... “When the train comes we’ll sate our bellies and be clothed....” The train arrived and was empty. And everyone asked, “Well what the hell did we enclose the garden for?!”) | |
