    Description
The History of Black Writing (HBW), founded in 1983 at the University of Mississippi and located at the University of Kansas since 1998, promotes research and inclusion in higher education. Guided by a collaborative work model, HBW is best known for literary recovery and preservation; digital scholarship and access; professional development and curriculum innovation; and public humanities programming. The project staff is composed primarily of undergraduate and graduate students with one full-time staff member, all led by a faculty director. Within the pages of these Activity Reports, you will learn about HBW’s inter-institutional partnerships and collaborations, initiatives, grant funding, and budgets. These reports also detail the project’s long history of organizing public programs, projects, publications, and more to promote critical engagement with African American literature.
