This assignment was the product of a Research-Intensive Course Grant through KU’s Center for Undergraduate Research. These grants provide financial support and advising for instructors who want to incorporate larger research and creative projects into their classes.en_US
The purpose of the project is to provide students with experience in all aspects of the research cycle for investigations in Cultural Psychology. Students ranked their preferences for a menu of nine pre-designed projects concerning collective emotion in Confederate monuments, the practice of land acknowledgement, trust in science, environmentalism, and compliance with public health guidance related to COVID-19 (see the attached document titled "research menu"). We assigned students to one of nine pre-designed project groups based on their preferences. Students distributed online surveys through their social networks with a goal of obtaining responses from 150 participants. We guided students in analyses of data from the surveys. Students reported results of their project in a conference-style poster that they presented in an online poster gallery at the end of the semester. Instructions for the different aspects of the project appear in the attached document ("research project guidelines overall").en_US
