dc.descriptionThis text grew out of lecture notes used for a sophomore level active learning classroom. It is intended as a concise, straightforward representation of fundamental dynamics concepts. Each module contains an explanation of a fundamental principle, followed by example problems, group activity problems, and homework problems. The example problems and group activity problems contain plenty of white space, to enable students to work the problems in the Lecturebook, either in or out of an active classroom setting.

Topics are organized to enhance understanding. After introductory material, the text is divided into four main groupings that discuss in turn the kinematics and kinetics of particles, and then the kinematics and kinetics of rigid bodies. The content of the book can be covered in a three semester hour course.		en_US

dc.description.abstractEngineering mechanics deals with the effects on bodies that are subjected to forces. The two primary subdivisions of mechanics are statics; where the bodies remain at rest, and dynamics; where the bodies are put in motion.

The aim of this dynamics text is 1) to develop an understanding of the basic principles governing the response of bodies to forces, 2) to develop an ability to solve problems simply and logically, and 3) to apply these basic principles to practical engineering problems.		en_US
