This is one of hundreds of 60-second radio spots created by the Center for East Asian Studies (CEAS) for Kansas Public Radio (KPR). The purpose of this outreach program is to introduce the people of Kansas to the culture and current issues of East Asia.
Broadcast Transcript: August 1st is coming up, people, and you know what that means. People's Liberation Army Day here in China:, time to party for the Party and celebrate the army's formation back in 1927. This year, however the celebration may be a little less fun, Why? Because the government has just issued a decree banning virtual romances for soldiers for fear of security breaches. This ban includes on line dating, blogging, friending and even job hunting. So commanding officers are working on alternate ways to help their troops--especially men--find love among the barracks. They are seeking help from the Communist Party's women's federation and throwing parties so that single service men can stand in line to meet women without going on line. #ceas #china #hacker
