Marketing the Mountains explores the impact of tourism upon the natural world of Rocky Mountain National Park. Moving beyond culutral analysis of the development of tourism in the American West, this dissertation seeks to understand both the cultural and material components of tourism in a specific local. Contrary to popular belief, it argues that tourism has had a significant impact on shaping and reshaping the plants and animals of this crown jewel.
