dc.description.abstract | This study examined the effects of a staff-training intervention on the use of engagement procedures by direct-care staff who worked with adults with developmental disabilities. The intervention consisted of a mini-workshop, observation and feedback to staff members, on-the-job coaching of staff members, and a lottery incentive program. The intervention was implemented within two different types of day programs. In both types of day programs, the intervention increased the use of engagement procedures by staff members and produced both an increase in the clients' engagement and a reduction in the clients' inappropriate behaviors. | |
