dc.description.abstract | Sascia: A Genesis is a Master of Fine Arts Thesis exhibition that focuses on a science-fantasy narrative that examines the precious yet fragile condition of existence. This exhibition was completed through the use of oil paintings on canvas, gouache paintings on paper, stop-motion animation, and collages made from materials from the animation. All of the work is connected to the fictional story of an extraterrestrial entity that awakens on the planet Sascia, where it begins a life full of discoveries. Among these discoveries, are some other entities that have different origin stories from themselves. Together they discover that their relationships with each other transcend time. The overall goal of Sascia: A Genesis, is to highlight the power of human tenderness through a lens that is ultimately unfamiliar. | |
