The purpose of this investigation is the correlation of form and function in a single species of insect, Hydrometra martini Kirkaldy. For this, the internal and external structures of the adults were examined and the post-embryonic development of the nymphs was followed. The behavior of both nymphs and adults was observed in the laboratory and in the field throughout the year.
