In May 1993 the Kansas Center for Community Economic Development at the University of Kansas updated its 1989 economic development survey of medium-sized Kansas communities. The purpose of the update was to determine current economic development efforts and to see how these efforts may have changed. Thirty communities participated in the study, which included a telephone interview regarding organization, planning and funding of economic development as well as follow up (by mail and telephone) to verify information.
