dc.description.abstract | The aim of the present study is to assemble in.one paper the pertinent taxonomic history and distributional information of the spadefoot toads of the New World; point out and correct certain errors or nomenclature perpetuated by numerous workers, clarify the systematics of the group; provide ready means for recognizing named forms and; to map the known geographic distribution of each kind. The principal part of this work is directed toward clarifying the taxonomic status of those species within the "hammondi” group and emphasizing the taxonomy of the “hammondi multiplicatus” complex. | en_US |
