dc.description.abstractThis document functions as an examination of Aaron Perrine’s (1979) Beneath a Canvas of Green (2018), a work for percussion ensemble and wind band. Included in this paper are sections outlining the composer’s background, the conception and commissioning process of the piece, a conductor’s analysis, rehearsal considerations, final thoughts regarding the necessity of new commissions and their impact on the development of band repertoire, as well as a historical overview of the percussion ensemble and list of similar works for this medium.
