This interview is part of the KU Center for East Asian Studies Study Abroad Impact Interview Series. Beth Fentress discusses her thoughts and advice after spending a total of 14 months studying abroad in China. She answers four questions regarding her study abroad experience. Beth discusses her challenges, her favorite story, the impact study abroad had on her future, and the skills she gained along the way.
Description
Beth Fentress graduated from the University of Kansas in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies: Chinese Language and Literature and Speech-language-Hearing. She first studied abroad during the summer of 2015 through Princeton in Beijing, an intensive language-learning program located in Beijing, China. She then spent the 2015-2016 academic year studying Chinese Language at Nanjing University. During her third trip to China in 2017, Beth completed a summer internship at The Essential Learning Group, a therapy center in Shanghai. Beth has also traveled to other cities in China, including Chengdu, Kunming, and Hangzhou.
