Look Look Look, a creative dissertation, is in two main parts, a book-length collection of poems and a scholarly essay, both on the topic of motherhood. Both sections of Look Look Look examine the relationship between mothering, identity, and writing, interrogating representations and constructions of motherhood in contemporary poetry. In prose poems and single-line verse pieces, Look Look Look acknowledges the collapse of the self that can accompany motherhood, adding images of construction and man-made structures to images of birth and motherhood, exploring the body, gender roles, family, mothering, writing, creation, destruction, and rebuilding. In short, Look Look Look makes visible the dramatic changes that occur as the result of motherhood, as well as challenges cultural expectations surrounding the maternal and contemporary poetry.
