Abstract Introduction: Fibromyalgia (FM) is a challenging disorder to explore and warrants further study. This study aimed to determine if the recovery process after isometric fatiguing contractions is altered and if Qigong may be beneficial in this process. Methods: Twelve healthy controls and eleven FM patients, ages 30 – 63 years completed the isometric fatiguing exercise. Six FM patients randomly assigned into two groups of 3 completed the intervention of Sham Qigong/Qigong. Results: The data showed a trend towards altered recovery in torque, perceived exertion, and EMG max amplitude in patients with FM in comparison to healthy controls. For the intervention study, the Qigong group showed trends for improvement in fatigue and symptoms. Conclusion: Favorable trends were observed for altered recovery and symptoms during fatigue testing after the Qigong program. The results support the need for a study with a larger number of participants. Keywords: Fibromyalgia (FM), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)
