    Abstract
    David Herzog is an assistant professor at the Missouri School of Journalism, where he teaches computer-assisted reporting and serves as the academic adviser to the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting. Before joining the faculty in January 2002, he was an investigative reporter for the Providence Journal in Rhode Island and editor for computer-assisted reporting at The Morning Call in Allentown, Pa. He is author of the book "Mapping the News: Case Studies in GIS and Journalism" (ESRI Press).
