| dc.description.abstract | Broadcast Transcript: Like many countries, the issue of gender is complicated here in China. Women weren't supposed to rule but many of them did. Eunuchs were powerful because they were impotent. Great men were often undermined by beautiful women. Modern technology has added a new chapter to the gender issues. This chapter starts with a dancer named Jin Xing--who will be performing, by the way, at the Lied Center on February 23rd. Jin Xing is praised for the precision of her style, which she attributes to the many years she spent in the People's Liberation Army. Back when she was a man.
