| dc.description.abstract | Oral history interview with Libby Phelps conducted by Steve Teichgraeber in Lawrence, Kansas, on November 20, 2010. In this interview, Libby Phelps, a former member of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, discusses her experiences growing up in the Westboro Baptist Church. She discusses the church's activities as well as its views on social issues such as homosexuality, abortion, and divorce; her family's conduct; and her decision to leave the church. This interview was conducted for the Religion in Kansas course taught at the University of Kansas by Dr. Timothy Miller in the fall of 2010. | |
