Killing in Okaraygua is an historical novel as well as a murder mystery that takes place in an imaginary Latin American nation in the 1980s. The characters found within represent a variety of ways of surviving, occasionally prospering, and in a few cases trying to subvert a harsh dictator. Inspector Irronogaray is an honest policeman in a corrupt government. Assigned to solve the murder of the country's brutal intelligence chief, the inspector must walk a fine line between powerful suspects and the truth.
