Significant negative correlations were found between all subscale and full-scale scores of the HS-R2 and all scales of the Barrat Impulsiveness Scale (Patton, et al., 1995), the dysfunctional impulsivity scale of the Dickman Impulsivity Inventory (DII; Dickman, 1990), and the sensitivity to punishment scale of the Sensitivity to Punishment and Sensitivity to Reward Questionnaire (Torrubia, et al., 2001). All HS-R2 subscale and full-scale scores correlated positively with the functional impulsivity scale of the DII. This pattern of relations was not explained by the mediating effects of mental health. The findings are interpreted as suggesting that one's level of impulsivity is foundational and may influence the subsequent development of the constituent components of Snyder's Hope construct. This item is protected by copyright and unless otherwise specified the copyright of this thesis/dissertation is held by the author.PsychologyThe relationship between impulsivity and hopeThesisopenAccess
