Sulfonylation between cysteine ethyl ester/cysteamine and 2-chloroethanesulfonyl chloride, followed by in situ intramolecular thia-Michael addition, was achieved and afforded the titled 1,5,2-dithiazepine-1,1-dioxide scaffolds. Diversification was demonstrated for future library synthesis. This is an open access article under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs License 4.0 (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0), which permits use and distribution in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited, the use is non-commercial and no modifications or adaptations are made.http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Synthesis of a Library of 1,5,2-Dithiazepine 1,1-Dioxides.
