Companies are scrambling to create desirable products to occupy people’s wrists. While timepieces have been around for centuries, smartwatches are just beginning. How do we leverage design to create a high end watch experience? What form, features, materials, aesthetics and user interface are appropriate? Smartwatches are trying to appeal to users by taking design cues from the wristwatch. Despite this, they lack the critical functions to be considered a true necessity. Garmin is in a unique position to create authentic smart instruments or tool watches that are relied on in the most extreme conditions.
