Viewers are transported to a period of youthful innocence as they climb up into a fort reminiscent of the childhood ideal. The gallery floor forms pathways between patches of decaying grass littered with a colorful array of objects, creating a scene reminiscent of a cluttered backyard in suburban America. Beneath the pleasing layers of youthful nostalgia are cynical reminders of the realities and anxieties that accompany adulthood. Beyond being a platform for the thematic dialogue, the exhibition provides an opportunity for new relationships with the audience as they are asked to participate and contribute to the library of artist’s books.
