By incorporating a method of nocturnal observation, the artist introduces an element of uncertainty to the viewer--a veiling of context and awareness. Seemingly recognizable locations become abstractions of personal experience, transforming them into vaguely familiar gestures of life in the Midwest.13 pagesenThis item is protected by copyright and unless otherwise specified the copyright of this thesis/dissertation is held by the author.Fine artsContemporaryCultureLandscapeMemoryPaintingPsychologySynecdoche: Visions of Midwestern SolitudeThesisopenAccess
