The paper discusses the problem of the use of borrowed resources in modern Ukrainian derivation. Analysis of the new Ukrainian words was done in relation to the nominations of the same concepts in other Slavic languages. Material research proves that the influence of donor languages, and, above all, English as the leading language of globalization on contemporary Ukrainian derivation, can be explicit vs. hidden, primary vs. secondary. The functional potential of nominations with foreign-language resources enables one to judge about nominative and
communicative importance of an innovation and to predict their fate in the recipient-language.

As the co-reference of propositions within a complex sentence or text, inter proposition enables the inter-dependent co-occurrence of predicates or, rather, predicative optionality, as well as relative meanings, which are marked by connectors. This article treats inter-proposition from the standpoint of possible predicative co-occurrences within a sentence.

Mirko Deanović’s Lingvistički atlas Mediterana project led to the publication of a series of articles (1958–1967) devoted to the lexicon of a range of BCS dialects extending along the Dalmatian coast and offshore islands from Čakavian Krk in the north to Old Štokavian Boka Kotorska in the south. Since the data were gathered with due attention to prosodic details, Deanović’s material can be utilized for the purposes of the present paper, which provides a comparative historical analysis of the accentuation of monosyllabic masculine stems attested in Deanović’s corpus. The results of this analysis shed new light on the lexical and geographical domain of “accent type D” in BCS, a topic which has been the focus of scholarly discussion devoted to the evidence for and against Common Slavic “accent paradigm (d)”.

The essay is a specific genre which is beneficial for the study of literature in those areas of research literature that cannot be dealt which solely through scientific discussion. This article presents solutions for the terminological variability pertaining to the essay in Slovenian literary studies, namely, by presenting a chronological overview of published discussions that have appeared in book form – from Esej in Literarni leksikon to Miran Štuhec’s Slovenska esejistika v drugi polovici dvajsetega stoletja.

This article deals with the process of language purism and the presence of Serbisms in Croatian. We attempt to show whether the speakers of Croatian know and use specific lexical items that are generally considered to be more characteristic of Serbian usage. For this purpose we use two data sources: a corpus of Croatian and a questionnaire survey. The results show that the speakers of Croatian are aware of the differences between Croatian and Serbian to a large extent. Even though they mostly do not use them, most speakers do know the meaning of
lexemes that were used in the Serbo-Croatian period. This leads to the conclusion that the process of “cleansing” Croatian is being successfully implemented (but is far from completion). However, we argue against the justifiability of this process.
