| dc.description.abstract | I will address the ecology of the scholarly communications system. This conference focuses on dramatically improving the effectiveness of that system by creating "open access to knowledge." In our efforts to do so we must observe the physicians' maxim: "First, do no harm." A little time spent focusing on system ecology and what we have learned from past perturbations in that ecology is warranted. | |
