Since 1980, Professor William D. Keel and his graduate students at the University of Kansas have recorded speakers of German dialects in Kansas. This collection preserves the original recorded interviews, edited only to preserve the privacy of speakers who participated in some of the interviews. The recordings contain data collected from dialect questionnaires developed in Germany and the USA, along with free speech conversation, anecdotes, jokes, songs and recipes. These are the source recordings for excerpts that are found on the LAKGD website.
