Abstract
The ability to take on the perspective of a conversant during a dialogue allows individuals to communicate effectively. However, this ability becomes more difficult to study– as well as more important for each involved individual– in a multilingual context, when multilingual individuals must understand and take into account the language knowledge. Using electroencephalography (EEG) to investigate the comprehension of bilingual individuals as affected by nearby monolingual conversants who do not have access to parts of the conversation due to the language they are in, this experiment intends to investigate the dynamics of access-restricted language comprehension using the mitigation of semantic anomalies as a measure of confederate perspective-taking.
