Abstract
This assignment was developed for ANTH 340: Human Variation and Evolution, but can be adapted to other subject areas where communicating complex material to the public is a learning goal. The first document are the guidelines for the infographic. The second is a task list that students generated during an in-class activity to focus their research strategies and plan the timeline for completing their infographic. This document was edited to include specific tasks they forgot. The third are requirements for a team contract that they developed after assessing the tasks and putting them onto a calendar. As a class, we created the rubric for the assignment, which I edited and put into a fillable PDF form, attached as the fourth document. The final document is an assessment of their group that was used as part of their grade.
Description
This assignment was the product of a Research-Intensive Course Grant through KU’s Center for Undergraduate Research. These grants provide financial support and advising for instructors who want to incorporate larger research and creative projects into their classes.
