Abstract
In response to the rising prevalence of anxiety disorders among college-aged young adults, the development of the Calming Compass concept, a user-centric mobile application aimed at aiding self-management for pre-diagnosed anxiety disorders, is proposed. This app will integrate software and data from popular wearable fitness trackers, such as those by Apple, Garmin, and Fitbit, to provide users with effective tools to manage their anxiety.
Guided by behavioral science and human-centered design principles, Calming Compass will feature personalized goal setting, mood tracking to identify triggers, guided relaxation techniques, and connections to mental health resources. A medium-fidelity minimal viable product (MVP) will be created for user testing to assess its impact on anxiety symptoms and overall well-being. The research findings will inform future enhancements and contribute to advancements in mental health interventions tailored to young adults, ultimately improving therapeutic and assistive devices in this field.
