Abstract
Herein, the development and mechanistic elucidation of cobalt-catalyzed decarboxylative processes are described. The primary focus has been to develop sustainable catalytic approaches that allowed for the installation of highly versatile functionalities and synthetically valuable building-blocks, all in accordance with the principles of green chemistry. This has been achieved through the development of decarboxylative transformations mediated by cobalt catalysis. Through these developments, new methodologies for allylation, fluoroalkylation and olefination, that mark an improvement on the existing methods were devised. Additionally, mechanistic insights into the catalytic activity of these newly developed cobalt-catalyzed reactions have paved the way for new reactive pathways.
