Abstract
Many organ composers have written études for the organ to help players develop their technical and musical abilities. However, there remains limited research about études composed since the year 2000. This document focuses on organ études composed between the years 2000- 2020, with emphasis given to the technical skills each piece develops. Because a comprehensive overview of every étude is not possible, this document centers on works by the following composers: Michael Pelzel (Switzerland), Rachel Laurin (Canada), Naji Hakim (Lebanon/France), Eric Lebrun (France), S. Andrew Lloyd (United States), Thomas Lacôte (France), and David Briggs (United Kingdom). Every effort has been made to gain a wide diversity of nationalities and styles.
