Abstract
We describe and illustrate a new species of the genus Andinopanurgus Gonzalez and Engel (Andrenidae, Protandrenini) from Apurímac and Cusco, in southern Peru. Andinopanurgus vargasllosai Gonzalez and Alvarado, n. sp., is found at altitudes above 4000 m in the central Andes and is the second species of the genus recorded for Peru. The new species possesses metasomal tergi with semi-translucent distal margins, a unique characteristic within Andinopanurgus , and combines morphological characteristics of the two groups of species so far recognized in the genus. In order to facilitate identification, we present an updated key for the Andinopanurgus species.
