Abstract
The Jamaat-e-Islami worked on various Islamization projects in the early political history of Pakistan, especially aiding the drafting of the three constitutions of Pakistan. Yet because of their lack of intellectual research and their lack of appropriate assessment of what the population wanted and how to implement their Islamic state ideology, more often than not, the Jamaat’s aided constitutional articles and amendments became tools used to oppress religious minorities and women. The legislation resulting in such cases, assisted in creating spaces for religious oppression and propagated religious intolerance in the general population, hence influencing the attitude of Muslims towards their fellow Pakistani minorities as well as women, who are also treated as second class citizens, similar to religious minorities.
