Abstract
“Diversity” is a slippery term. Construed too broadly, it includes everyone within AALL. Construed too narrowly, it fails to recognize under-represented members. Over the past ten years, AALL has shown a positive trend of more members of color within the organization. All members can do their part for diversity by noticing the positive trend, and encouraging it further by reaching out, personally, to members of traditionally under-represented groups. The article reflects its author, Prof. Joyce A. McCray Pearson's personal observations, and her insights derived from her chairmanship of the Committee on Diversity.
