Caption: Долго думал Псюкин, какой бы ему костюм на Масленице надеть: чтобы был дешев и чтобы Псюкин никто не узнал. Пошел Псюкин к мяснику, купил себе фунт филея, мясник с Псюкина за это живо шкуру содрал. – Дешево и сердито! – сказал Псюкин и поехал к знакомым французам на вечер. Увы, его сейчас же узнали. «А вот и русский обыватель пришел!» – воскликнули иностранцы пре виде Псюкина.
Translation: Psiukin thought for a long time about what costume he might wear for Carnival: his goals were for the costume to be cheap and for no one to recognize him. Psiukin set off for the butcher, bought himself a pound of filet, and for that the butcher skinned Psiukin alive. “Cheap and angry!,” said Psiukin as he set off to some of his French acquaintances for the evening. Alas, everyone recognized him right away. At the sight of Psiukin the foreigners exclaimed, “Hey, look at the Russian citizen who’s just arrived!”
