Abstract: Mixtures of truncated exponentials (MTE) potentials are an alternative to discretization for approximating probability density functions (PDF’s). This paper presents MTE potentials that approximate standard PDF’s and applications of these potentials for solving inference problems in hybrid Bayesian networks.
