| Abstract: | The word naynaa which occurs in the Jamul dialect of Diegueno has four functions: it is used as an emphatic, as an emphatic marker of coreference between a possessor and the subject of its clause, in the reflexive construction, and as an emphatic same subject marking device in complex sentences. This paper describes the uses of naynaa in detail. |
